Fiber Up Los Alamos County!
Google is planning to launch an experiment that they hope will make Internet access better and faster for everyone. They plan to test ultra-high speed broadband networks in one or more trial locations across the country. Their networks will deliver Internet speeds more than 100 times faster than what most Americans have access to today, over 1 gigabit per second, fiber-to-the-home connections. They indicate that they will make the capital investment required to offer residential and business services at competitive pricing in the trial communities that they select..

For our County to be considered, the County government must apply by March 26th. We believe that our community can make a strong case in many of the criteria areas Google is interested in. The County Council directed their staff to move ahead with an application at their March 16th meeting and the application is being developed by Laura Gonzales in the County IT Department.
